About Me:Hi! I am Reuellyn "Reu" Thomas, seventh grade science teacher. I started teaching in January 2006, after working as a Genetic Counselor in Atlanta and as a Youth Pastor in Elkin. Teaching gives me a chance to put my science, math, and youth backgrounds together!

My Personal Mission Statement: |
My family:I am married and have three children, age 12, 10, and 7 You'll hear plenty about them - they're great examples for all the things we study in class! My daughter is the oldest and she loves to dance and read. She's very artistic and loves to create "shows" for her brothers and cousins, and is a Girl Scout (I'm a Scout Leader). My middle son plays baseball and soccer and loves to create and build "inventions". He has a great sense of humor! The youngest is wide open! He's always singing and trying to do everything his big brother and sister do. He also plays soccer and baseball, especially in the house! Both boys are in Cub Scouts, and my husband is also a Scout Leader.

Education and Philosophy:I have a Bachelor's degree in Science from Wofford College (Go Terriers!), home of the Panthers' summer training camp. I have two Masters - one in Genetic Counseling from the Medical College of Virginia and one in Christian Education from Pfeiffer University. I worked as a prenatal genetic counselor for Emory University in Atlanta, then as a youth pastor here in Elkin, before becoming a teacher. I think that teaching is a great way to put all my loves together!
