Part 1:
1) Read the first document.
2) On the provided paper, write down the main idea.
3) On the same paper, write a 1 - 2 sentence summary for that document. Draw a line under what you wrote.
4) At the end of time, pass both the document, and what you wrote, clockwise around the table.
5) Do the same thing for the next document, BUT you can't copy what the other people have said. Even if you completely agree, you need to paraphrase it!
Part 2:
1) Rotate as a group clockwise around the room to the next table.
2) As a group, look at Document 1 and decide which of the four main ideas you feel stated it best.
3) Look at the four summary sentences. As a group, decide which you feel is the best summary.
4) Each person write the main idea and summary your group picked on your provided outline.
5) As a group, decide on supporting details and each write it on your outline.
